Will i need a Eurorail pass or buy each ticket individually?

I've looked at all european rail sites and none help.

Im going to europe with a mate. And the global pass looks kinda pathetic due to the price and the lack of area it covers. For example. When going from Helsinki to Vienna there is no train. When going from Vienna to Athens no train. When going from Athens to Positano no train. When going from Positano to Casablanca no train. When going from Casablanca to Madrid no train.

Its pointless buying one. It can get us too our like First 5 destinations then the others it won't work for.

Can someone please tell me more options.

And what each ticket may cost if we were to purchase on the train.

Thanks.

In fact, transeuropean connections are really scare, because the national railway societies aren鈥檛 very cooperative towards to each other. Also you cannot use the high speed trains. So you are obliged to use local trains. If you don鈥檛 like to see the countryside preferring a kind of citty-hopping, perhaps it might be better to obtain a rebate card and buy the tickets singularly. Alternatively you can plan your big Europe trip using hitchhiker portals or you can try to get some cheap flights to pass big distances.
Do you have ANY IDEA just HOW FAR APART THOSE PLACES ARE? and do you know that a Eurail pass is for traveling in EUROPE?

Obviously you are NOT the world traveler you seem to think you are, because you would know that NO train travels to some of those places... The only way to get to Casablanca is BY BUS... you take the train to Algrecias or Cadis... take the boat across and TAKE A BUS to Casablanca.

Helsinki to a European port, then Eurail to Vienna... But, I seriously doubt you even PLAN to take all those routes.. I think you have just been looking at the Eurail Routes and dreaming up trips that can't be made by train... because YOU DON'T KNOW ANY DIFFERENCE but you are trying to AMAZE us with your supposed travel knowledge... and I really hate PHONIES who try to impress me with fake knowledge.

Eurail passes for traveling on the train system in EUROPE... if you want to travel to ASIA and AFRICA or the ASIAN SUB CONTINENT... the you are NO LONGER IN EUROPE... you DO know that... right? Will i need a Eurorail pass or buy each ticket individually?
You need to have a good think about where you want to go鈥?as like you said, eororail is pointless if you cannot get to the places you want to go with it.

I have travelled around Europe and had an amazing time!!!

You need to think about the following:

鈥?How long are you wanting to go away for?

鈥?What is your budget??

鈥?Where are the MUST SEE places on your itinerary??

My itinerary changed A LOT whilst organising my trip. My girlfriend and I decided to take 6 weeks off work and spend approx 拢2,000 ($4,000).

We looked at a map of Europe and discussed where we would both like to go鈥?. Here is where we went鈥?br>

Manchester England 鈥?FLY to Amsterdam.

Train to Frankfurt, Germany

Train to Prague, Czech

Train to Vienna, Austria

Train to Salzburg, Austria,

Train to Venice, Italy

Train to Florence

Train to Pisa

Train to Verona

Train to Lake Garda

Train to Rome

Fly to Sicily

Fly to Genoa

Train to Monaco, France

Train to Nice/Cannes

Fly to Paris

Fly home to Manchester!!

We organised everything from out accommodation to pre booking a tour around the Vatican. For where we were going the euro-rail pass (we used interail pass) was very cost effective and was the best option, with the occasional flight.

If you鈥檙e wanting to go further a field, say up to the Nordics, Helsinki etc鈥?you might be better off scrapping the trains and getting flights, see expedia.com

Or you could do both.. interail passes have options for using them over a certain amount of days. For long trains you also have to pay an extra reservation fee before you get on the train to secure a seat.

Good luck, and remember, the more you organise before you go the less you鈥檒l have to mess about and weaste valuable time whilst out there!!!

There are trains on most of those routes, but they are far apart and would require changing trains at least once. Vienna to Athens is a 24-36 hour trip on slow Eastern European trains. Athens to Positano is even longer, or you can take a ferry from Greece to Italy. There's no train from Casablanca to Madrid - trains don't cross the Mediterranean. You can't pick far-flung places and expect to travel them by train - if you want to tour Europe by train, pick places that are within reasonable distance of each other - Paris - Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Vienna - Venice...or something like that. If you want to see Greece or Finland or Morocco, you use your railpass to work your way there gradually, stopping at many places on the way, like Paris - Nice - Barcelona - Seville - Algeciras (ferry) Tangier - Casablanca.

If for whatever reason you want to visit the places you listed and not any other destinations in between them, you will need to fly. Look at airlines like Ryanair, Easyjet, and Air Berlin.
