Mostly you will find that flying is cheaper and easier.
When traveling around, doing a train travel each second day or so, a train pass is often the best option, specially if you do not want to book ahead, but simple travels, there and back, a rail pass is almost always more expensive.

On top of that comes that London in the UK is, the UK does not participate in the Eurail system, and when you buy an InterRail pass in the UK (when you have been living in Europe 6 months) you can not use it in the UK. Yes, you will get a reduction on the Eurostar trains, but with that reduction you still pay more than you would pay for an Eurostar ticket bought 3 months before travel.

I am searching train connections on the German rail planner, it seems that the travel time is about 7 to 8 hours, cost is less easy to work out. For the German to Paris part you can find on the site of the German rail planner, for the Eurostar bit you will have to look/book on the Eurostar site.
It looks like that if you book today you will have to pay 鈧?00 per single travel, but it might be that there are still cheaper options.

If I were you I would look into the cheap flights to Germany and maybe do the last little bit by train, like the last hour or so.
Last I have added is the site of the man in seat sixty-one, with a direct link to the part 'should I buy a rail pass or point to point tickets'.

Added:
If you live in Germany and have lived there for 6 months already when you want to use a rail pass you can buy an InterRail pass, in Germany it gives only 25% discount.Whats the cheapest way to get to germany from london?
