advice? Eurorail pass - kinda confused?
I was going to answer from my own personal experiences, but you've got some good, informed answers already...so I'll just say: Have a great time!!
The United Kingdom is not a member of eurail therefore you cannot select that country for a eurail pass. To go to London on the Eurostar train you will have to pay a special fare.

Eurostar (France, Belgium, Great Britain)

Routes:

Paris - London

1st class: 鈧?135 (approx. USD 199.80 / AUD 236.25) / 2nd class: 鈧?75 (approx. USD 111.00 / AUD 135.25)

Reservation compulsory. 1st class includes light meal.

Brussels - London

1st class: 鈧?135 (approx. USD 199.80 / AUD 236.25) / 2nd class: 鈧?75 (approx. USD 111.00 / AUD 135.25)

Reservation compulsory. 1st class includes light meal.

Lille - London

1st class: 鈧?112.50 (approx. USD 166.50 / AUD 169.90) / 2nd class: 鈧?60 (approx. USD 88.90 / AUD 105.00)

Reservation compulsory. 1st class includes light meal.

Why? I don't know, maybe it's because the people on the Island always want to be something different. We have one Schengen visa for 24 countries, they have their own one. We use the Euro as currency in 21 countries, they have their own one. We have the right lane for driving, they have their own one. We have the Eurail pass, they don't participate.

It is not part of the rail system in Europe. You can get a separate Brit Rail pass for the UK. The Eurostar is not covered by any passes, I think.
