Which Greek islands should i visit? and what transport should i take?

I have three weeks in Greece with my friend from the end of July and the start of August. Would someone be able to suggest which islands we should visit? Only problem is we want to spend as little as possible so preferably the cheaper but still unmissable islands. We where going to get a eurorail pass to get to some of the towns along the cost. Would this be a good idea or would another option be better?Which Greek islands should i visit? and what transport should i take?
You should take the ferry from Piraeus and you can sleep on the deck like so many do. Not really resting but cheap. I suggest you go to Crete because it's big, with plenty to see and do and it has an amazing shoreline, namely in the south. Rhodes is also a very good choice. Many Greeks themselves choose to vacation in Rhodes, so that may mean something. Santorini is a third great option. It is a volcanic island with black sand and there are Minoan ruins, as in Crete. It's much smaller than the previous two, of course. There are many other interesting islands but these are the ones you should be looking forward to in my humble opinion. Have a nice vacation!
Eurorail in Greece: Bad-bad idea. Not a good railway network. We use buses more, because the roads are better. Buses are not expensive either.

As for cheap islands, Naxos is great, amazing beaches, very interesting heritage and low prices. You can combine it with nearby Paros, and even Santorini. They are all on the same ferry line. That's what I recommend, such an itinerary will cover pretty much all tastes, but for me Naxos is a must even more than Santorini.

You may also enjoy Kos, it is not so expensive, but it is a long trip by ferry, I prefer to go there by plane.Which Greek islands should i visit? and what transport should i take?
Well two of the most popular islands in Greece are Crete and Mykonos...they are islands with wonderful beaches with white sand and wide blue water.....they are many historical places to visit,a lot of youth, clubs, and little souvenir shops or with nice stuff and clothing....

If u visit Crete the most nice place to go is Hannia and REthymno and Iraklio if u want to see something from ancient greece..the most cheep way to go i think is by plane...
It is very difficult to choose. I think Rhodes and Crete would be a great choice for you because there are TOO many things to see and you can find cheap accomodation.

Better search for an apartment rental, something that will permitte you to prepare your coffee, maintain some fruits and eat only once outside. You can find really good offers.

Especially in Crete you will have plenty of choices and I think you can make an one day trip to Santorini.
