Anyone knows how EuroRail Pass works?

My plan as below:

9/1 Take the night train from Paris, arrive Venice at 9/2 morning, train departs at 8pm

9/2 morning, take train from Venice to Florence. and will take the local train around Florence on 9/12

9/6 take train from Florence to Rome

Not sure I should get the 5 days pass or 6 days pass.

Anyone has use the EuroRail pass before? Please give some advice?

Also I saw the price is very diff. on several websites. Are those website all authorized dealers for EuroRail tickets? Could someone recommend me a good website to book the pass?

Thank you.Anyone knows how EuroRail Pass works?
It's cheaper just to buy individual tickets rather than using a railpass for this trip. Right now, there are tickets available on the night train on September 1 from Paris to Venice at the discounted smart fare for a berth in a 6 bed compartment. The discounted ticket costs 35 euro. If you have a railpass, you still have to have a reservation which will cost you an additional 25 euro above the cost of the pass. When the smart fare sells out there are other discounts available - the standard fare is 120 euro without a discount.

From Venice to Florence, you will have to have a reservation at a cost of 10 euro with a railpass. You can get an individual ticket for 30 euro if you buy in advance or 43 euro if you buy the ticket on the day you travel.

From Florence to Rome costs 10 euro for the reservation when you use a pass. But you can get an individual ticket in advance for 22 euro or on the day of travel for 45 euro.

The supplements you have to pay with a pass are 45 euro; individual tickets cost 87 euro with the best discounts up to 208 euro with no discount at all. The cheapest Eurail pass for three days covering France and Italy plus the supplements for the reservations cost more than individual tickets even if you don't buy in advance to get the discounts.

The Italian railroad site is here: http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.js鈥?/a> You can make reservations for your trip through the site if you want.

You'll need to book the Paris to Venice leg through the French train system. http://www.voyages-sncf.com/

There's a great site here: http://www.seat61.com/ . This explains railpasses in detail. See particularly, the sections on Common railpass mistakes: Italy... and Railpasses - a warning about 'quotas'...Anyone knows how EuroRail Pass works?
I completely agree with Conley 39. You would need to buy a three country pass (France, Switzerland, Italy) although you just pass through these countries. The 7pm rule for night trains does not apply for the first day of the railpass activation. Your pass would need to start on 9/1 if you plan to take the night-train from Paris-Bercy at 8.33pm. If you still decide to buy a pass do it here: http://www.eurail.com/home ..
