How can US citizens prebook train tickets for Europe? Dont want to use Eurorail - too expensive!?

I have tried searching for train prices from Paris to Berlin and the only site that show prices are Eurorail or other similar sites (for US citizens) but those prices are way too expensive!

SInce I wouldnt be able to afford prices like 150 dollars and up, I am planning to wait until I arrive to paris and then buy train tickets there (I'm staying in Paris for 4 nights) Would you recommend waiting until I arrive to buy tickets simply because its too expensive on US-owned sites.

I am also looking at train tickets :

Toulouse to Paris

Berlin to Warsaw

Warsaw to Krakow

Krakow to Prague

Prague to Vienna

Vienna to Budapest

Milan to Florence to Rome

I would like to prebook such trains before I leave USA for Europe (traveling from mid-May to August), but so far havent found any European sites that allow me to purchase tickets.

Please any advice is welsome

This page has a lot of links, http://www.seat61.com/railshop.htm

When it says 'within one country' you can read that as where most of the travel is within the country, as many national rail sites also sell outside their own area.

The German rail site in the other answer is a good one, but you cannot buy most of your tickets from their automated system, as those are for German travel only, (again, also tickets that are from Germany to some other destinations,) but when you contact them you might find that they are willing and able to sell you all you need.

For bus travel, do you mean long distance, if so, look at Eurolines: http://www.eurolines.com/

Or google the cities you want to travel between and 'bus'.

For local buses you mostly buy in the bus.How can US citizens prebook train tickets for Europe? Dont want to use Eurorail - too expensive!?
Check Bahn.com They have a US specific page and you can create a profile to make purchases easier.
