Eurorail Questions....?

I am planning on traveling through eastern europe and wanted to know which pass I should buy.

I will in europe for roughly 20 days. Below is a list of each city I will be traveling to... if someone could just tell me if it is possible to go to each one with no problem and which pass they suggest buying.

1.) amsterdam to bern

2.) bern to munich

3.) munich to frankfurt

4.) frankfurt to berlin

5.) berlin to warsaw

6.) warsaw to krakow

7.) krakow to vienna

8.) vienna to rome

9.) rome to siena

10.) siena to cinque terreEurorail Questions....?
Krakow to Vienna is a bit of a problem. The connections from Krakow going south are not that good.

I personally would go Berlin-Krakow, there is a night train running this route. Skip Warshaw and go to Krakow - Prague - Vienna instead.

Vienna - Rome - Siena should be Vienna - Venice - Florence - Cinque Terre - Siena -Rome.

I also don't understand why you are hopping around in Germany so much. It would make much better sense if you went Amsterdam - Frankfurt -Bern - Munich - Berlin. (Why you want to go to Frankfurt is beyond me, there is nothing to see for a tourist except the airport. Cologne would be a much better city to visit.)

But if needs must, the best train connection from Amsterdam to Bern on the 14th is the CNL night train from Amsterdam Centraal to Basel SBB and then the IC train from Basel to Bern. The CNL leaves Centraal at 20:32 and requires reservation and payment of a supplement in advance.

The alternatives by train are several connections leaving very early (7 or 8 am) or one going via Cologne and Basel leaving Centraal at 18:34. There are more connections, but all of them take very long (12 to 14 hours) and require up to 6 changes.

It is however also possible to fly from Amsterdam to Basel. Flight is with easyjet and leaves Amsterdam Schiphol 17:25, price for Apr 14th is currently 61 EUR.

I strongly suggest you get a map of the European rail system, country by country if you need to. It will help you plan your journeys better.

You need 2 books... Europe by Eurail and the Cook's Eurail Timetable... those 2 books will answer all you planning needs.. and you will live with them in your hands while traveling.

I think you may have a problem with the Poland part of the trip, otherwise no problem.

Your end points aren't very practical if you plan to use Eurail, however, because the way you travel in Europe is, you sleep on the trains at night and sightsee during the day.

You can't take an overnight train from Amsterdam to Bern and the Vienna to rome trip is a killer. A vienna to Venice then Venice to Rome leg is much easier and much better for sightseeing

Get the Railroad timetable and you will readily see the problems with your trip planning and what corrections you can make.
