We are trying to plan something out of the ordinary that we have never had the opportunity for on our anniversary. We are military so the area is new to us and we would like to take advantage of the beautiful scenery WA has to offer. I hear there are many waterfalls here but that is all I know. Another thing is we do not want to camp. A hotel is very desirable because of two reasons. We never have a babysitter so the kids (2yrs. and 8yrs.) will be with us and two is it will be for the weekend of May 1st, I anticipate rain. I hear good things about Olympic National Park but again, I have no idea what would be best for our situation with the kids and we just want something like trails. You know, just to observe nature. Thank you so much in advance!Where is the best place to see waterfalls in Washington state?
My favorite falls in Washington is Twin Falls. It's a beautiful, fairly easy hike, you hike through beautiful old growth forest and then end up at the falls, you cross a bridge between the two falls and then are able to hike down to the bottom. Twin Falls Lodge is an option for lodging as well as 50 campsites. The hike is nice and easy for kids, and you can picnic and there's a playground at the park. The hike is only 3 miles round trip and easy to find. It's off I-90 exit 34, turn south on 468th Ave. SE and go about 1/2 a mile right before the South Fork Snoqualmie River bridge, take a left on SE 159th St. and drive about another 1/2 mile to the trailhead parking lot. I guarantee you and your kids will love it! We go on that hike every summer because we love it so much. I'll put a link down below so you can see some photos!
Miramar Falls on the trail at Lake Crescent is gorgeous and you are about half hour from hotels in Port Angeles. Sol Duc falls is also close by--just up the road and a fairly easy hike--triple falls cascading over rocks and you can get really close for some fantastic photo ops. Sol Duc has cabins you can rent for the night/week, etc and Lake Crescent has cabins and a lodge if you don't want to go back to Port Angeles. There are also some relaxing hot springs at Sol Duc.Where is the best place to see waterfalls in Washington state?
One of the best areas is in the Columbia River Gorge, on the Oregon side. There are many falls right along the road. A stay at Mt Hood will give you ample hiking opportunities. You can see most of the falls in an afternoon %26amp; another afternoon to circumvent Mt Hood.
From Bothell, go east along Highway 2 around Gold Bar - Skykomish. There are four or five different falls in the area. You could continue east on 2 and stay in Leavenworth, WA, which is an interesting little town modeled after an Alpine village.
Snoqualmie Falls in Snoqualmie at the Salish Lodge. It is a day hike to climb down to the bottom and you can swim and picnic, and climb back up, if you like hiking.
Snoqualmie falls in Snoqualmie is pretty good especially when the rivers are full.....
Here ya go!
