Where should 4 college grads travel by Eurorail for 3 weeks?

Trying to cover as much ground as possible. Not worried about history/architecture-just want to see Europe and have fun before jobs/grad school start. Round trip from Amsterdam. Tentative itinerary Amsterdam, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, French riviera, Spain, France, Belgium, back to AmsterdamWhere should 4 college grads travel by Eurorail for 3 weeks?
Spain is great!
I think you want to rethink how many places you want to visit in your three weeks - this is about 2 days per country including the travel time as it is. You would be better off trying to cover a smaller area and spending a little more time in each location ... or if your objective is really to cover ground just to say you've been in (through) a country hit more countries and just hop from train to train.

You might want to review this site which is an excellent resource for train travel here: http://www.seat61.com/ . It covers railpasses in great detail including the extra expenses for booking mandatory reservations and provides links to the various national train websites. The German train website is good for finding schedules for trains throughout Europe. http://www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/index.s鈥?/a>

As a start, you might go from Amsterdam to Berlin. That's a 6 to 7 hour train ride alone unless you take the night train and arrive at 4:21 am - then it's 9 hours and would cost extra for the mandatory reservation. Berlin to Prague is another 5 hours on the train. Prague to Zurich (just to pick a place in Switzerland) is another 9 to 12 hours with 2 to 3 changes en route. Zurich to Milan would be another 4 hours - add additional time if there's somewhere specific you want to visit in Italy like Venice, Florence, etc. Milan to Nice is 6 to 9 hours travel time with a couple of changes - again add time if you want to be somewhere else in Italy. Nice to Barcelona is about 12 hours. Barcelona to Paris is 9 to 10 hours on the train. Paris - Brussels - Amsterdam are relatively short hops. That's a lot of train time to see one city in each country, but it is possible and it's your time and money.

If it were me, I might consider a loop from Amsterdam to Prague through Berlin and back to Amsterdam via Munich. Or go the other direction through Belgium and France and back up to Amsterdam - see a little more of each country and spend less time in transit.Where should 4 college grads travel by Eurorail for 3 weeks?

That's too much for 3 weeks. Cut it by a third and you'll have a much nicer time.
