This is not a practical trip to make by train. It would take a couple of days on the train with multiple train changes because the trains would need to go around the Adriatic Sea. It should be a clue that none of the trip planners can find a route for this choice. Further, Greece does not have a border with any of the other countries included in the Global Pass. The other option is to take a train from Athens to a port where you can connect to a ferry to Ancona or Bari and take the train from there to Rome. If you have a pass that is valid in both Italy and Greece, then you can use it for crossings on the Superfast/Blue Star Lines and only pay the taxes and sometimes a supplement.
