if you were going to europe would you go on a tour or eurorail?
thank you yahoo people. also where would be the cheapest
place to buy airline tickets and a euorail pass.If traveling to europe would you go on tour or eurorail?
Personally, I probably wouldn't do either. First, I prefer the flexibility of individual travel over going in a group. Then, it's often cheaper to buy individual tickets for train travel here than to get a Eurail pass. You do, however, have to do some research and be willing to buy tickets somewhat in advance to get the best deals. With the Eurail pass, you still have to make reservations and/or pay additional supplements for the faster trains here. Only the slower regional trains are truly hop-on, hop-off with the passes. See: http://www.eurail.com/1_reservations_sup鈥?/a> , http://www.eurail.com/1_reservations_sup鈥?/a> , http://www.eurail.com/1_reservations_nig鈥?/a> Note: actually, I don't qualify for a Eurail pass since I'm a European resident; I would have to get an InterRail pass which is actually a better deal. I have never done this because it's always turned out to be cheaper to just buy indiviaual tickets for the travel I do.
The passes can save you money if you do a lot of travel and mostly or entirely use the regional trains. You can determine whether a pass may be of value by laying out a proposed itinerary and comparing the total price of the pass (including all supplements) with the price of individual tickets. There are often discounts on individual tickets on the higher speed trains if you buy them in advance. For example, there's a SMART fare for a berth in a night train from Paris to Rome for 35 euro, but right now the ticket would have to be bought almost a month in advance. The Amica fare here in Italy is available on domestic Intercity, Eurostar, and Alta Velocit脿 trains if you buy a ticket at least a day in advance - it provides a savings of up to 20%.
There are a couple of good resources for finding flights on budget airlines here: http://www.whichbudget.com/en/ , http://www.skyscanner.net/
I would go to Germany. I went to Garmisch-Partenkirchen by rail and it was the most beautiful and fun trip I have ever taken. Innsbruck is not far and you will be rewarded many times over. Bavaria ROCKS!!!If traveling to europe would you go on tour or eurorail?
