Do you have to be 21 to check into a hotel?

I am heading to Houston this weekend for a grand-opening of a brazilian steakhouse. The problem is I am not 21, I am 19. I'm checking into a 4-5 star hotel, haven't made up my mind on exactly where I am staying. I look like I'm 23-24, so I don't think I would have a problem with appearance, the problem would be if they ask for ID. What do you all think about this? I would think higher priced hotels are more interested in the money than turning away customers, but you never know..Do you have to be 21 to check into a hotel?
Majority of hotels will not allow anyone under 21 to check in. Unless it's some seedy "don't ask, don't tell" type of place, you will need ID, and they WILL check it. If you are paying with cash, they will still ask for ID, and you will pay a hefty deposit. The higher priced, the hotel, the tighter the regulations, btw. If you are paying by debit or credit card, the name on the card MUST match the name on the ID, and if someone else is paying, they need to sign an authorization ahead of time. My advice is for you to make a list near where you want to be, and call and speak to a reservations agent to get the facts. Nothing like getting there and not having a place to stay. My 19 year old recently went to Seattle, and I had to go because even with my authorization, the better hotels would not allow her to check in.
There is no way to get an answer here that will do you any good.

You simply have to decide on several different hotels that you would be willing to stay in, then CALL THEM. They are the %26lt;%26lt;only%26gt;%26gt; people who can answer this properly.

I could say that you will have no problem at all, then you find out when you arrive that I was totally wrong, so you end up with no place to stay. Not a good plan.

Call some hotels and see what they say.Do you have to be 21 to check into a hotel?
Some hotels require you to be at least 18 but the majority require you to be at least 21. You will have to show ID when you register.

Check the minimum age requirements before you book a room.
You will need to show I.D. so they can get your license number or state issued I.D. number. They will also need a credit card, with a few thousand dollars of available credit, to cover costs of damages you may do to the room.
Not in Canada haha suckas!
