So either next summer, or the summer after that I really want to just take the summer off and travel across the country. See all of those national wonders like mt. rushmore, grand canyon, st. louis arch etc.
I was wondering if it would be less expensive to drive across the country to try and take a plane. If I go the plane route I could see less of the country and would have to pay for hotels. If I just take my Chevy Blazer I can sleep in the back and just have to pay for gas and wear and tear on the car. Ideas?Travel across the US by plane or car?
If you want to really see things, take the Blazer, then you could go down the old RT 66, and see just what you want. The people you will meet will make the trip!
Oh, without question, you must drive it. There are all kinds of little towns with interesting things to see, you would miss out on tons of fun, by flying. Be sure to visit Montana, and the Going to the Sun road, it is beautiful and just fantastic. The coastline of the Northwest is also a stop you must make, Oregon has a much more rugged coast than Washington, and has lots of funs things to do.Travel across the US by plane or car?
Two of the three best trips I have ever taken involved driving across the U.S. (once taking I-10, the other taking I-80). The best thing about driving across the country is that you get to see the changing landscape, geography, etc. You also have the ability to stop and see places would be considered "out of the way" from a major airport, but that are "on the way" when you're driving from one city to the next.
One other suggestion since you mentioned the Grand Canyon; definitely make it a point to drive through Southern Utah to see Bryce, Zion and the other parks in the vicinity.
Have fun!
Hit the road!! You see a lot more and get to experience the different cultures across the country.Growing up every year we took a family vacation and we drove and I have been to 45 of the 50 states. I am forever greatful to my parents for showing me the country.
hit the road in your chevy blazer it's alot that you can see in a car then in the air.
I would go in a car, because you can see more of the beauty of the country.
