Quadratic function: st.louis arch?

the famous gateway arch height is any point can be roughly modeled by the equation: he=-0.006x^2 + 4x - .08. where h is the height and x is the number of feet on the ground from one of the base to center of the arch.

if the length on the ground from one of the arch bases to the center of the arch is 315 feet, how high is the arch. ( quadratic formula)

how far apart are the bases of the arch

if the bird is flying 210 feet from on of the bases at an altitude of 510 feet, will the bird fly above, below,or into the arch?Quadratic function: st.louis arch?
If the center to a base is 315, then that is your x as defined by the problem, substitute 315 in for both x's in the quadratic and solve, that will give you the height.

As for how far apart the bases are, just double the 315 to 630.

Once you do the above problem you will know the height and whether or not the bird will fly above or below.
